My Hip Hurts From Running

Processing my emotions has never been an issue for me. I’ve always journaled or had a physical way to get out what I was feeling (mainly by running).

What yoga brings to the table is different. In fact sometimes it’s so much harder to process things. We are taught titrationan approach to managing stressful or painful situations, feelings, thoughts, and memories. When we titrate, we are moving both towards and away from something, so that our nervous system, heart/mind, and body can process what is occurring and not become overwhelmed. Those emotions and discomforts that we want to go away hang out for a little longer because we take our time in dealing with them.

For example, many of you have seen me post about this on my personal page about my cat passing away around the beginning of the pandemic. I was really dealing with a lot of grief. The Universe decided to help me out and guide me through a practice I was needing to process those emotions. That week following her passing, I did a few sessions of Yoga Nidra that were put together by my teacher Michelle, that used titration to help me sit with those thoughts and process them in a way that made it overall less stressful and helped me heal.

Ironically, just yesterday I had a student just ask me about planning a class around using titration. It brought me back to this time a few months ago and my experience with it. It allowed me to process and eventually liberate my emotions, finding some peace and inspiration within a chaotic world.

With the stress we have been going through, know that there is a way to let go. It just takes maybe a invite to tea to sit with it.
