Episode 8 - Leah Carelli - ‘Gentleness’
I had the pleasure of connecting with Leah a few short years ago kind of by accident. I was subbing a Restorative Yoga and Reiki class that was held at one of my former studios in Brunswick. Really awesome connection that has developed into a beautiful friendship - she has also taken some amazing photographs of me (which I have shared over and over), and I even offered some of my CHI Malas as part of a retreat she did a couple years ago. Every offering a lightness and gentleness.
A little bit about Leah, from a young age, she spent her time playing in nature in every type of weather: from walking through creeks during the summer to building igloos during the winter. If she wasn’t playing outdoors, you could find Leah playing with Barbie dolls & using her creative imagination. Both of these: her fondness & deep connection to the natural world & her insight into play, creativity, & imagination have been carried as cherished gifts into her adult life.
Leah was a sensitive child & she absorbed everything around her: the good & the bad: as an adult she learned she is sensitive to energy, she is intuitive, & she is emotionally intelligent & aware: she has begun to learn to hone these skills & gifts.
Leah’s teenage years were full of turmoil: suffering severe stomach issues & a long list of accompanying, debilitating symptoms, struggling with depression & anxiety, having extremely low self esteem & lack of confidence, hating her body & feeling ashamed & embarrassed, feeling alone, lonely, & like an outcast, having perfectionism & self critic tendencies, believing she was dumb & a failure, feeling unfulfilled, bored, disappointed, pressured, & overwhelmed with daily life, lacking a drive, motivation, & purpose in life....because of all this she believed she was broken...being desperate for answers to why she was experiencing this & wondering how to change it, she began her search.
Although she tried many, many, many methods, she did not find the answers she was looking for in the modern world around her.
A turning point occurred & the answers began to be revealed when Leah was in her 20s while she was working full time as a formal educator & attending graduate school; she opened a book for her graduate studies & began to enter into the world of native americans & witnessed their relationship to the world: that experience awakened within the reader a sacredness, a deep connection, a fulfillment, a freedom & a curiosity.
This potent experience sparked a flame that continued to grow brighter & brighter, leading Leah onto a new path where she felt called to study, implement, & live a life in congruent with ancient medicines, yogic practices, sustainable living, wholistic wellness, personal transformation, energy healing, & spirituality.
By weaving these sacred modalities, she began to discover the root cause of her health ailments & life challenges, she began to understand the underlying cause of pain & suffering, & she began to heal her own past traumas & current pains: unraveling layer by layer.
After much inner healing, she began to build herself & her life anew: a life of fun, freedom, & fulfillment, health, vitality, & nourishment, purpose, passion, & play.
She is now dedicating her life to practicing, breathing, living, & teaching these sacred, ancient modalities & sharing how she became Leah’s Light.
She is fully committed to brightening her light, evolving & growing in order to be the best version of herself so that she may be a leader of positive change, be of service in the world, & leave a lasting ripple effect.
Leah wears so many hats, and has so many accomplishments, wisdoms, & gifts. Everything from a formal educator for 9 years to meditation teacher, energy healer and intuitive. She is currently taking an online course called “Sacred Why”
